For the last couple of months my Fiancé, Andrew, has been giving private lessons to Hailee, a little girl from our gym. Hailee is 8, so it's not easy for her to drill the techniques with Andrew, who is 6'2. Luckily....He has me! I'm only 5'2 which makes me a better training partner for her!
Hailee is a great student! She is a little sponge and retains her lessons very well. It's so fun to see a mini person doing some of the same difficult techniques, that I watch many adults struggle with, with ease! I think kids don't "over think" the way adults do.
I teach our kids class once in awhile and I'm always nervous about what to teach, I'm always worried that it may be too tough, I've learned that the kids are just as capable of difficult techniques (if not more) then a lot of new adults and seem to retain it as well too.
It's been great watching these little ones grow up! Some have now become awesome training partners for me, especially some of the teen boys, which now tower over me and seem to have developed "man strength".
I give a lot of credit to our kids teachers, it really takes patience, a cheery personality and the same skills it takes to teach grown ups.
