Those of you who train jiu jitsu probably have experienced the comradery
that goes on in this sport in one way or another, yesterday this came out in a
BIG way! Over 90 jiu jitsu practitioners got together at Siege MMA to help out
the families in the Philippines who were hit hard by a typhoon earlier this
month, including the family of one of the guest instructors, Jay Pages, who has
50 family members that lost their homes and are ALL living under one roof. Most
of the people in attendance don't have a personal connection with anyone in the
Philippines but, were willing to come out to support and give donations to the
cause.
We raised over $1600.00 ALL of which will go to
those in need! Eminence Kimono donated a Gi, which also had great results
in a $5 raffle where the proceeds went directly to Jay's
Family.
Not only was it a great feeling to do what we love to
help out a great cause, it was a great day of rolling with others from all over
AZ in addition to learning some new techniques from 5 different Black
Belts!
If you were unable to make it out yesterday, it's not too
late to help! Donations are still be excepted and will be sent to The
Philippines through The Red Cross. Every dollar counts!
