This week I have done a few things out of my usual training. Monday night I took MMA class, which consisted of "cage work" something I have NO experience in, I look like I got hit by a truck (I feel like it too!) I will probably wait to do this again until after Worlds! Last night I took "Stroops & Ladders" class and today, my son Tyson and I hiked Thunderbird Mountain!
There aren't too many Mom's out there that can say they are training with their "adult" son to compete at Worlds (if any) BJJ has created an amazing bond for Tyson and I that most parents don't experience with their teenagers. Tyson is almost 21 now and went from wanting me to drop him off then go park the car so we could enter the gym separately so it wouldn't look like we knew each other (when he was 15)...to being great training partners and being proud to have a Jiu Jitsu Mom!
