Since we opened our academy, MY Jiu Jitsu journey has changed dramatically. My journey was about ME....MY training, MY tournament, MY goals!!
My 1st tournament after opening the school was the Copa Bella (all female tournament) this falls on the same day as the Kids Cup which we had 14 kids competing in. Although I prepared well for competing, I spent about 8 hours prior to my matches coaching, running, standing and feeling the anxiety of our kids. This takes a huge toll on your body and state of mind making it tough to focus and feel strong.
MY jiu jitsu goals this past year were focused on my students. Sure I still have my own goals, I have learned to find a balance though.
This next week (starting after kids class of coarse) the World will revolve around me! At Least for a few days as I get in "tournament mode" for Worlds.
It's ok to take time to better yourself, live your dreams, fulfill your goals and train like a champion but, don't lose site on those who are important in your life and what you can do to help contribute in their happiness and goals as well.
