I was reading through some of my old blogs and found this one about what a pain long hair is in Jiu Jitsu.
Lots of girls struggle with this problem. We spend more effort fighting our hair then our opponent.
When I first started Jiu Jitsu my hair was kinda short, it was such a pain because it was too short to put up but just long enough to be in my face. I decided to grow it a little longer because of this.
Some of my female training partners have this amazing big
thick long hair. They tie it back in a ponytail and it looks great and stays put
through class.
I however, have thin layered hair. I put it in a ponytail and a few seconds into rolling the rubber (and I have tried ALL kinds) just slips right out or my layers don’t reach that far back so they come out of the rubber band and stick straight up!
During daily classes I deal with this crappy hair I have but, I have figured out some solutions that I use when competing.
I started getting corn rows for tournaments, I'm not crazy about the look but my hair never moved throughout the entire tournament.
I now have a couple of awesome hair stylist’s that I train with, that hook me up with some fancy do’s but, when I compete out of state, my hair stylist’s
can’t always make it , so I figured out a way to improvise, mini ponytails;
from my bangs to the top of the back of my head.
Warning: You must put the back of your hair up or it looks like a mullet & nobody wants a mullet!
I pull the back up in a pony tail or buns, in my case they are mini buns
I'm still working on a solution to that and will keep ya posted!
