I come to class everyday to make myself better, no one forces me to take class after a hard day of work, no one tells me I need to push harder, no one tells me I have to compete, no one makes me face my fears and anxiety, no one holds my hand, no one tells me they will make my dreams and goals a reality. No one but me!
Reaching your goals in Jiu Jitsu is a group effort, obviously we need our training partners but, only we can make the choice to work our hardest, push our limits and even just step on the mats.
As an instructor, it's my job to encourage, teach and mentor but, only YOU can create your success!
My goals are not always the same as my teammate/student, that's where the responsibility falls on you to make sure you're getting what you need to reach YOUR goal. Some of us are here to just enjoy Jiu Jitsu, some to relax, some to get in shape, some to learn self defense, some to share their knowledge, some to win tournaments...and all of those are great but, all require different needs. To have the best success let others know your goals and your coaches/teammates will usually be there ready to help, push and encourage but, always remember....if you want the results, YOU have to do the work!
